DialogWeb Help: The Browse Feature in Dynamic Search

Most Dynamic Search forms contain a Browse option that lets you display a list of indexed terms that are similar to the term you enter. This valuable feature lets you see exactly how a term is indexed and lets you select the term and its index field directly from the Browse display.

To use the Browse option

  1. Select an option from the Browse drop-down list and click Browse.
    For example, if you want to look up a company name, select the Company name option from the drop-down list.
  2. Click Browse to display the Browse List form.
  3. In the text box, enter words that appear in the company name and click Browse. A list of companies that contain the words you entered displays.
  4. Select the company you want and click Add to Search. The search form displays with the company name in the Search for text box and Company name is selected as the In field option.

If you are searching in a single database that has an online thesaurus, you can use the Browse feature to access the  thesaurus To Browse a thesaurus

  1. Select the Thesaurus of Subject Terms option from the drop-down Browse list and click Browse.
  2. Enter a single term in the Subject Term text box and click Browse.
    The Browse display includes a list of terms, their relationship to the term you entered (Narrower, Broader, Related, Top, Preferred, and Used For) and the number of records that are available for each term.
  3. To include a term from the list in your search, select the box next to the term and click Add to Search. The Dynamic Search form displays with the term you selected in the Search for text box and the Thesaurus of Subject Terms as the In field option.

    To display a list of the terms associated with a term on the list, click the term name.
    or
    Enter a new term in the Subject Term text box and click Browse to display a list of related terms.
