DialogWeb Help: Selecting a Search Mode

DialogWeb offers two search modes: Guided Search and Command Search.

Guided Search is the default search mode. It is designed for novice to intermediate searchers who want easy access to Dialog's authoritative business, legal, scientific, and technical information. It is a forms-based search tool that provides access to more than 350 databases with information from over 50,000 journals, 60 newspapers, and 4,000 full-text business and trade publications.

There are two search options available in Guided Search: Targeted Search and Dynamic Search. Both options provide forms-based access to Dialog's databases. Both options are available at various points in the search category selection process.

Command Search is designed for intermediate to experienced Dialog searchers. It provides complete command-based access to Dialog's exclusive collection of databases. To access Command Search, click Go to Command Search from Guided Search. To set Command Search as your search default, from Guided Search go to Settings, Logon, Settings, and select Command Search.
