Dialog ERA (Electronic Redistribution and Archiving) |
  |
Dialog ERA lets you specify that
the records you receive via a PRINT, TYPE, or REPORT
command are to be redistributed to, or electronically stored and accessed by, other
employees or departments within your organization.
There are three ERA options:
- COPIES
The COPIES specification (COP), used only with a PRINT command and postal delivery,
provides one print copy plus additional copies for redistribution to others in your
organization. You can request up to 100 copies using this option. To request copies of
your search results, append COP followed by the number of copies desired, to your PRINT
statement, for example, pr s2/9/all cop 15.
- REDIST
The REDIST specification (RED), used with a PRINT, TYPE, or REPORT command, provides one
print copy and grants you the right to make additional copies for redistribution to others
in your organization. To request redistribution rights for your search results, append RED
followed by the number of copies, to your PRINT, TYPE, or REPORT statement, for example, pr
s2/9/all red 22.
Note: COPIES and REDIST provide the same redistribution rights. COPIES
supplies you with the copies and REDIST gives you the right to make copies.
- ARCHIVE
The ARCHIVE specification (ARC) provides one original copy of your search results and
grants you the right to electronically store the copy on an in-house system where a set
number of people in your organization access the information. ARCHIVE is used with a
PRINT, TYPE, or REPORT command. ARCHIVE only covers the number of people accessing the
internal system's single machine/server where the search results are stored. To request
archive rights for your search results, append ARC followed by the number of people who
have access to the results, to your PRINT or TYPE statement, for example, t
s3/9/all arc 30.
You can use the REDIST and ARCHIVE
options together to gain permission to make copies from electronically stored records.
Separate charges are applied to the use of both options. When these options are combined,
they can be appended to the PRINT statement in any order. For example, you can enter pr
s2/9/all arc 30 red 50 or reverse the order, pr s2/9/all red 50 arc 30.
