| DialogWeb Help: What is the Basic Index? |
The Basic Index is an alphanumeric list of all words and phrases that can be searched with the SELECT command. Terms can be searched alone or with field suffix codes that restrict retrieval to specific Basic Index fields. For example, to limit the search term budget? to the Title field, enter s budget?/ti.
Specific fields and codes vary
according to the database you are searching. The database Bluesheets list the available
fields and codes.
Note:
If a suffix code is applied to a set created with the AND or NOT logical operators, the code applies to at
least one, but not necessarily all, of the terms in the set. To ensure the suffix applies
to all terms, use parentheses, for example, s (budget? and balance?)/ti.
If the selected Basic Index suffix is not supported in a database, the search term will be
processed in all valid suffix fields in the Basic Index.
