You can use the Online Editor to
create or edit SearchSaves,
Dialog Alerts, Alternate
Addresses, and your Dialog Profile.
To use the Online Editor to create a
SearchSave
- Enter a BEGIN command in any database. If you are creating a SearchSave you may
want to BEGIN in an inexpensive or free database.
- Enter edit. The system
responds with an Input prompt followed by a line number and a question mark.
- Enter your first search statement and
press Enter.
- Continue entering search statements on
subsequent Input lines. The lines are numbered in increments of 10 to allow for subsequent
insertions of new lines if you want to modify your strategy.
- When you finish enter your search
statements, press Enter in response to the last Input prompt. The system responds with an
Edit prompt.
- Enter LIST to view the strategy you
entered. If you want to modify the strategy, use the edit commands listed below.
- When your strategy is complete, enter
SAVE or SAVE TEMP followed by an optional 1-6 character name. If no name is specified the
system assigns a serial number to the stored strategy.
- To exit the Online Editor without saving, enter QUIT.
The Online Editor has ten edit
commands:
To edit a SearchSave or Dialog Alert
- Enter a BEGIN command in any database
(a free database, such as File 200, is recommended).
- Enter edit followed by
the name or serial number of the SearchSave or Dialog Alert.
- At the EDIT prompt, enter list
to view the search strategy of the SearchSave or Alert.
- At the next EDIT prompt enter one of
the nine editing commands and make the desired changes.
- Enter list to view
your strategy.
- Enter save to
permanently store your SearchSave or Dialog Alert, or enter save temp to
store your SearchSave for seven days.
- In the case of an Alert,
you will be prompted if you want to make changes to the scheduling or other settings.
