| DialogWeb Help: The SAVE Command |
| Example: Save your
search strategy and name the saved search 'web'. Command: save web |
The SAVE command lets you store your search strategy and use it again in the future. A stored search strategy is called a SearchSave.
To permanently save a search strategy,
run your search and after your final set has been created enter save and
an optional search name.
To store a temporary search strategy for seven days, run your search and after your final
set has been created enter save temp and an optional
search name.
To run a permanent or temporary SearchSave, enter the EXECUTE STEPS (or EXS) command followed by the full name of the stored search,
for example, exs sbweb.
To display a SearchSave, enter the RECALL command followed by the full name of the
stored search.
To delete a SearchSave, enter the RELEASE
command followed by the full name of the stored search.
Naming a SearchSave
You can name a SearchSave by entering one to six characters, one of which must be a
letter, after the SAVE or SAVE TEMP command.
You may use letters,
numbers, or the underscore character _, #, @, or $.
Dialog appends two characters to
the beginning of the name you enter. The first character is an "S" if the
SearchSave is being permanently stored and a "T" if the SearchSave is being
stored temporarily. For example, if you enter save temp web, Dialog
stores the search as tcweb. If you do not assign a name to your SearchSave,
Dialog assigns a serial number to the search. To run, recall, or release a SearchSave you
must enter the full name, for example recall temp tcweb.
There is a nominal monthly charge for the storage of permanent SearchSaves. There is no storage charge for temporary SearchSaves.
