The INSERT command is used to add new lines of text. The INSERT command, when used alone, places you in Input Mode at the end of the current text. INSERT followed by a line number, as in the above example, places you in Input Mode at the specified line number. When adding a line between existing lines of text, choose any line number that falls between the two line numbers. For example, to insert a line between the existing lines 10 and 20, enter insert 15.
