DialogWeb Help: The BEGIN Command

Example: Start a search in File 470, Books in Print.
Command: b 470

Use the BEGIN command to access any database on Dialog. Most Dialog databases are identified by file numbers. To start a search in a specific database, enter the BEGIN command followed by a file number.

You can use the BEGIN command at any time to change databases, however, all previous search results are erased when you enter a BEGIN command and set numbering is reset to S1. To conduct several unrelated searches in the same file, enter BEGIN followed by the same file number each time you start a new search.

You can also use the BEGIN command with OneSearch and DIALINDEX categories, and you can search multiple databases by enter the BEGIN followed by the file numbers separated by comas, for example, b 1,6,8,399.

Note:
Subaccount billing information continues across BEGIN commands unless the subaccount number is changed.
