| DialogWeb Help: About Alerts |
The Dialog Alerts service lets you store a search
and have it run automatically when a database is updated or according
to a schedule you set up. The stored search is run against
the new items in the database and the results are sent to you by email, fax, FTP,
or U.S. mail.
DialogWeb Alerts let you create, list, and modify your Dialog Alerts. It also provides
an Address Book so you can create and display alternate address information.
The Dialog Table of Contents Alerts service delivers a title list of newly available articles directly to an email address. The email address may be set up for an individual or for a wider distribution list. When the message containing the title list is received, the recipient(s) review the list and order articles by replying to the message. (Note: When ordering articles from a Table of Contents Alert email, do not use attachment replies.) When the reply message is processed the article is delivered to the requester's email in-box.
To distribute the title list message, you need to set up an automatic distribution list on your company email system. The distribution list must be maintained at your site because it resides at your site.
Table of Contents Alerts lets your organization use the Dialog ERA (Electronic Redistribution and Archiving) feature, which lowers the cost for multiple copies of the same article.
